Job Purpose
The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial and
accounting records, processing payroll and wages, monitoring
financial transactions and providing day-to-day bookkeeping
support to the company.
The post holder will ensure that financial records are maintained
accurately and in a timely manner and that payroll and associated
payments are processed in accordance with company procedures and
relevant statutory requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for the company.

Record and process sales, purchases, receipts, payments and other financial transactions.

Maintain purchase and sales ledgers and reconcile financial records.

Prepare and process invoices, credit notes and payment documentation.

Monitor outstanding customer and supplier balances and maintain accurate records of amounts owed and payable.

Carry out regular bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

Process employee wages and salaries, including calculating gross pay, deductions and net pay.

Maintain accurate payroll records for employees.

Calculate and process statutory deductions, including PAYE income tax and National Insurance contributions.

Prepare payroll information and ensure payroll is processed accurately and within the required deadlines.

Maintain records relating to employee leave, sickness, overtime, bonuses and other payroll adjustments where applicable.

Prepare payroll reports and financial information for management review.

Assist with the preparation of financial statements, management accounts and other financial reports.

Maintain records of expenses and employee payments and ensure supporting documentation is retained.

Assist with VAT calculations, returns and related financial records where required.

Liaise with accountants, auditors, banks, suppliers and other relevant parties regarding financial and payroll matters.

Identify and investigate discrepancies in financial and payroll records and make appropriate corrections.

Maintain secure and confidential records of financial and employee payroll information.

Ensure financial records are organised and retained in accordance with company procedures and applicable legal requirements.

Use accounting, payroll and spreadsheet software to maintain records and produce reports.

Undertake other reasonable duties relating to bookkeeping, payroll and financial administration.
Skills and Experience
The role requires a good understanding of bookkeeping and payroll
processes, strong numerical ability and excellent attention to
detail. The post holder should be capable of maintaining accurate
financial records, reconciling accounts and processing payroll
information confidentially and accurately.
Experience with accounting or payroll software, spreadsheets,
bookkeeping procedures, payroll processing, VAT and financial
administration would be advantageous.
Reporting
The Book-keeper / Payroll Manager / Wages Clerk will report
directly to the Managing Director and will provide regular
updates regarding bookkeeping, payroll, outstanding payments,
reconciliations and other financial matters.
